Stumbling

a prayer

The cross I took up when I followed you
is getting too heavy now.
I want to see the journey through,
but I do not know how.

So Lord, if I cannot keep up with you
and fall to my knees on the way,
have mercy upon me when I do:
I only kneel to pray.
