In springtime the gardener sowed all his seeds
and waited with patience the rain and the sun.
He’ll gather a harvest for all of his needs
when the harvest shall come.
Go down to the garden and get on your knees
and pray to the God who gives rain and then sun,
and wait for the God who gives life to the seed,
and the harvest will come.
In springtime he sowed her, his love, in the sod,
and gave back her dust to the dust she came from;
he wept as he sowed, but he trusted in God
that her harvest would come.
Go down to the graveyard and get on your knees
and pray to the God who gives rain and then sun,
and wait for your God and with patience believe
that the harvest will come.
For just as the earth brings forth all of its trees
and gardens abound with the fruit of the ground,
so God will cause righteousness, beauty, and praise
to spring forth, and we will be raised—
Go down to the graveyard and get on your knees,
give praise to your God for the work he’s begun,
and wait for your God and with patience believe
that the harvest will come.
